In Memory of

Anthony "Tony" Eugene McAlpine

October 3, 1986 - August 21, 2020
From: Larrabee, IA

Anthony “Tony” McAlpine, the son of John McAlpine and Marlene Prostrollo, was born on October 3, 1986, in Cherokee, IA. His childhood years were spent in Larrabee. He attended school in Cherokee where he graduated from Washington High School in 2005.

Tony worked at Bogenrief Studios in Sutherland, Staple’s in Marcus, and most recently at Mummert Construction.

Tony was known as a funny person that could make everyone laugh. He had the ability to imitate anyone or anything. He was known for going on his little rants, and wanted the whole world to know exactly what was on his mind. He loved his house, his Acura, and smoking ribs, which he made sure everyone, had to try. If Tony knew there was a good time about to happen, he made sure he was there to make it even better. He also liked music, the louder the better and from what his sister says, “He had MAD dancing skills!”

In his free time, Tony enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, painting, music, drawing, and art. He also liked bonfires and tending to his house plants. Most of all, he loved his two boys, Braxton and Theodore.

On Friday, August 21, 2020, Tony passed from injuries suffered in an auto accident at the age of 33. He was preceded in death by his father, John McAlpine and two uncles, Mark and Matthew McAlpine.

He will lovingly be remembered by his mother, Marlene Prostrollo of Larrabee, IA; his two boys, Braxton McAlpine and Theodore Morris; his sister, Christina (Isaac Cruz) McAlpine of Larrabee, IA; one niece, Alana Cruz; one nephew, Ezra Cruz; his girlfriend, Emma Morris; and several other relatives, and friends.

A public gathering honoring Tony's life will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2020, from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at the Larrabee Community Center.

“Gone too soon! My condolences to his Mother, Christina, Sons and to the MANY friends that loved and adored him. I agree with the many words I’ve heard of Tony over these past days. He loved everyone and had a way of making friends with just about anyone. If He was in the room you know you had a friend there. I regret to say that I have lost touch and hadn’t gotten to see Tony or Christina over the past years. However the memories are vivid and even though their has been distance, I’ve always kept you in my heart and thought of you both many times and smiled. Time flies by so quickly. My heart is with you all. ”

“I got the privelege of being Tony's roomate at Prairie Ridge shortly before he passed. Him and I got to know each other, and he never left me without a smile on my face. My prayers go out to his family and he will be forever missed. I wrote a poem I'd like to share.

So much to give
Yet, a life short lived
No words can express the pain
Tony had much to learn
In his heart, desire burned
Though he is with us no more
In our hearts he's forever stored”
