Wilma Joyce Hagan the daughter of Floyd and Alice (Davis) Walters was born February 16, 1935 in Pierson, IA. Her childhood years were spent in Pierson where she graduated from Pierson High School in 1953. On October 29, 1953 she was united in marriage to Gene Hagan in Pierson. Following their marriage they lived briefly near Royal, IA before moving to Le Mars in 1958. Wilma worked at home helping to raise their children. She eventually worked for Mercy Medical Center as a CNA.
Wilma and Gene moved to Larrabee where they did daycare and foster care. Children were very important to Wilma and she enjoyed helping any child she could. They moved to Cherokee in 1998 and continued their foster care.
Wilma enjoyed gardening, flowers, and baking, especially cakes, cupcakes, and cinnamon rolls. She also liked to crochet blankets and cross stitch. Wilma loved nothing more than having a house full of kids. Grandkids, neighbor kids, daycare kids, and foster kids. Wilma and Gene loved every child that crossed their path as if they were their own. Every kid that grew up in Larrabee enjoyed playing at 'Grandma' Wilma's house at one time or another. She was everyone's grandma and always had the best homemade sprinkle cupcakes to pass out. She will be dearly missed by so many.
