William Thomson Pease was born December 30, 1916 in Washta, and died June 5, 2010 in Cherokee at the age of 93.
He was the son of LeRoy and Mary (Thomson) Pease of Pierson. He graduated from Grand Meadow High School in 1934. He married Evalyn Culler in 1938, the couple farmed near Pierson from 1939-1976, and Bill drove school bus for Grand Meadow School for 19 years.
He is survived by Evalyn, his wife of 72 years, daughters Mary Lou Hanson of Omaha and Diana Herbold of Sioux City, son James Pease and his wife Darcy Meeker of Blacksburg, Virginia, seven grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren, son-in-law Tom Rutter and his wife Linda Rutter, and his sister Charlotte Brownlee of Fairfield, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his daughter Carol Rutter, sister, Marjorie Farber and brother John Pease.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee, followed by sharing with the family in the basement of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee.
Bill loved to camp and fish, and he loved his family dearly. He lovingly made fine woodworking for members of the family. He will be remembered as a man dedicated to farming and gardening, to his family, and to his community.
He never asked for anything, expected even less. What he wanted, money couldn't buy.
