William 'Bill' James Rose

William "Bill" James Rose, the son of Perry and Lela (Bush) Rose was born May 22, 1954, in Cherokee, IA. His childhood years were spent on the family farm South of Cleghorn. His early childhood education was received at Maryhill School and later at Meriden-Cleghorn High School, where he graduated in 1973. After high school, Bill attended Northwest Iowa Technical College in Sheldon, IA to become an electrical lineman. In 1977, Bill went to work for Illinois Central as a lineman. In 1981, he joined the union through the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Los Angeles and later the Midwest. Most recently, he worked as a lineman for area wind farms and utility companies. Bill enjoyed spending time outdoors, camping, fishing, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, and tinkering with his old tractors. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. On February 2, 2016, Bill passed away at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center following a short illness at the age of 61. He was preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Lela Rose. He is survived by his son, Brandon Coughenour and fianc� Jena of Alma, MI; four grandchildren: Reese Weiland, Ivy Nevaeh Coughenour, Paislee Grey Coughenour, and Dakota John Coughenour; seven siblings: Linda (Mike) Scott of Aurelia, IA, Mike Rose of Cherokee, IA, Pat (Mona) Rose of Owatona, MN, Joe (Roxie) Rose of Redwood Falls, MN, Matt Rose of Cleghorn, IA, Nick (Mary) Rose of Cleghorn, IA, Mary (Don) Long of Ozark, MO; and his very special friend, Tonya Claussen of Cherokee; as well as several nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.
