William “Billy” Bezoni, age 54 of Cherokee, IA, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 8, 2024, at Accura Healthcare in Aurelia, IA. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2024, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee, IA. Pastor Mark Leeds will officiate. Burial will take place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Aurelia, IA. Visitation with family present will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee. The Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.greenwoodfuneral.com.
William “Billy” Joseph Bezoni, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away peacefully at Accura Healthcare in Aurelia, Iowa, on March 8th, 2024. Billy was born in Alta, Iowa, on July 3, 1969, the son of Jim and Karen (Agnitsch) Bezoni. He grew up in his family’s home in Aurelia and graduated from Aurelia High School in 1988. Bill always made sure his family came first and cherished each family get together that was possible. Billy started his working career at Hardees in Cherokee. He started his radio career in 1994 with KCHE Radio where he would go on and spend the rest of his career.
Billy enjoyed the simple things in life spending time with his family and friends. Often times you could find Billy riding his motorcycle no matter the weather conditions. He enjoyed watching Nascar or any sporting event that might be on the TV. He cherished his time broadcasting and covering area sporting events, especially his beloved Remsen St Mary’s teams with KCHE. He enjoyed time spent with his favorite dog Stella. Billy was a disciple of Jesus sharing the word with his social media followers. He created “Fear Not Ministries” where he would go on to share his word with his family and friends daily. He enjoyed marrying couples around the area and would often times find himself doing funerals/celebrations of life ceremonies. Billy was rarely at a loss for words and always knew how to make others laugh or make you feel important. Most importantly he enjoyed pulling jokes/pranks on his family and friends.
Billy is survived by his 6 siblings, Jim Jr. (Stacy) Bezoni of Aurelia, Iowa; Kimm Bezoni-Seel (John Seel) of Norwalk, Iowa; Connie Bezoni-Horner (Mike) of Enid, Oklahoma; Mike (Pam) Bezoni of Cherokee, Iowa; Karla (Chester) Cates of Cherokee, Iowa; Tamie (Doug) Mummert of Aurelia, Iowa. Also survived by Tami Bennett of Cherokee, Iowa. Billy is survived by 16 nieces and nephews, Spencer Bezoni, April Schossow, Kasey Kirschbaum, Kodi Lenz, Kelsey Jones, Erica Frey, Tyler Bezoni, Austin Bezoni, Rylee Bezoni, Kendra Mitchell, Jillian Cates, Brittani Cates, BriAnne Cates, Whitney Schroeder, Skyler Mummert, and McKenna Martin. Billy is also survived by many great nieces of nephews and dear friends.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Karen Bezoni; infant sister Bonnie Bezoni; and niece Jae Bezoni. As well as grandparents Harold and Mildred Bezoni and John and Phyllis Agnitsch.
The family would like to thank Accura Heatlhcare of Aurelia and Hospice of Cherokee Regional Medical Center and all those who cared for Billy.
