Terry Lowell Willbrandt

August 18, 1946 — November 8, 2019

Terry Willbrandt 73, passed away on November 8, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Sioux City after a brief illness.  Terry was born August 18, 1946 to Lois and George Lowell “Bill” Willbrandt, and was a longtime resident of Cherokee.  Terry was a Veteran, and served in Vietnam between 1967-1970.  He went on to receive a Bachelor’s degree from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado and advanced his studies at the University of South Dakota and then at Morningside with certificate programs in gardening and building.

Terry loved the outdoors, spending time hunting and fishing, like his father, and was very helpful to his parents in their golden years. Terry also enjoyed walking, reading, cooking and thrift shopping. He was a frequent patron of the Cherokee Public Library where he enjoyed researching topics and sharing his knowledge with family and friends. 

Terry is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Lois Willbrandt (Fellom), a sister Dolowa Wilson, also of Cherokee, nephew Mike Hollister of California and many other loving family members.  He is survived by a sister, Joan Hollister, nieces Kit Anderson, Kelly Ortiz, and Kris Marcucci of California, Thomine Wilson of Cherokee, nephews Tim Hollister and Pat Hollister of California, and Con Wilson of Colorado.  He is also survived by cousins Vicki (Jerry) Menke of Cleghorn, Dan Glassmaker of Illinois, Roberta (Richard) Boothby of Cherokee, Susan Brown of Florida, and Roger Willbrandt.

The family wishes to thank the Gardens Assisted Living and the Cherokee County Department of Veterans Affairs for their kindness this past year. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
