Teresa Ann Mesenbrink

Teresa Ann Mesenbrink, the daughter of Gus J. and Pauline (McManigal) LaScala, was born on November 6, 1950, in Sioux City, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Sioux City, where she attended school and graduated from Heelen High School. Teresa went to work as a CNA at Community Memorial Health Center. She enjoyed being able to care for the elderly.

On July 2, 1998, Teresa was united in marriage to Ron Mesenbrink in Cherokee, IA. They made their home in Royal, IA before moving to Cherokee in 2016. Teresa worked as a CNA at Sunset Knoll Nursing Home in Aurelia for several years. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, fishing, and Christmas and the Holidays. She had a soft heart for animals and enjoyed her numerous pets over the years. Teresa had many fond memories of spending time in the Black Hills.  She cherished every moment she was surrounded by family and friends.

On Sunday, October 13, 2019, Teresa passed away at her home following a courageous battle with cancer. She was 68. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gus and Pauline, and an infant granddaughter, Ellianna.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Ron Mesenbrink of Cherokee ; children, Lisa Blazek of Spencer, IA, Todd Bennett of Spirit Lake, IA, and Tony Bennett of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren, Blake and Jett Blazek, Mackenzie, Gabreille, Trinity, Weston and Ethan Bennett, as well as a new grandchild coming in the Spring; her siblings, Paula (Randy) Rhea, Dan (Karla) La Scala, Steve La Sacala, Joe (Pat) La Scala, and Jenny (John) Klemish; nephews Cory (Kaitlyn) Kreisel and Jess (Lacy) Kreisel; in-laws Pat (Peggy) Mesenbrink; her faithful dogs, Ace and Buddy.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee.
