Tamra "Tammy" Lee Gravenish

April 27, 1953 — January 19, 2020

Tamra Lee Gravenish , the daughter of Vernon “Gus” and Marlyce “Mavis” (Bengtson) Bergstrom was born April 27, 1953, in Cherokee, IA. Her childhood years were spent in Cherokee where she attended school and graduated from Washington High School in 1971.

 On December 29, 1972, she was united in marriage to Dennis “Bim” Gravenish. They were blessed with one daughter, Jodie. Tammy worked one year in the bakery department at Randall’s Food Store, 23 years at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center in various departments, and was a self employed housekeeper for 22 years for various homes and businesses until retiring in 2015.

 Tammy enjoyed cooking, baking, tending to her flowers, feeding the birds, especially the humming birds and orioles, and gambling. Most of all she enjoyed time spent with her family and friends.

 On Sunday, January 19, 2020, Tammy passed away at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon in 1994, and Marlyce in 1996; and one brother, Rodney in 2008.

 She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Dennis “Bim” Gravenish; her daughter, Jodie (David) Vaughan; two grandchildren, Breanne and Ryan; one great-grandson, Bosh; one sister, Julie (Doug) Williams of Kentucky; one niece, Heather Duckworth of Evansdale, IA; and other relatives and friends.

SERVICES
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 24, 2020, at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee.

VISITATION
Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, with the family present from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday night at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee.
