Steven John Madsen, son of Jerry and Marge (Lenz) Madsen was born on January 21, 1957 in Storm Lake, IA. Steve spent his childhood in Rembrandt and Aurelia, graduating from Aurelia Community High School in 1975. Steve joined the Navy in 1980, served in Japan, and left the Navy in 1984 as a Petty Officer Third Class. After leaving the Navy, Steve was involved in farming and construction, as well as various other jobs.
Due to health reasons, Steve has been unable to work for many years, residing in Nursing Homes and Hospice facilities. Though he was unable to travel, he loved to meet with and talk to people. He would spend countless hours calling family, friends, and even strangers to keep abreast of local happenings.
Steve passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 11 at the University Park Nursing and Rehabilitation facility in Des Moines at the age of 60. Steve was preceded in death by the passing of his father, Jerry Madsen, both sets of grandparents, and several uncles and aunts. Steve is survived by his mother Marge Madsen, of Omaha, NE; his siblings Kenneth (Lisa) Madsen, Karen (Scott) Monical, Kathy Williams, John (Angelena) Madsen, Roger Madsen, Angela (JC) Gaukel, as well as nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 16, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee.

VISITATION
Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 15, at the funeral home in Cherokee. The family will be present from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., and a prayer service will follow at 7:00 p.m.
