Shirley D. Roese, the daughter of Orville and Lillian (Andrews) Hinrichs, was born on February 28, 1934, in Pomeroy, IA. She was baptized and confirmed at Mission Covenant Church in Pomeroy. Her childhood years were spent on the farm where she attended country school through 8th grade. She then attended and graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1952. After high school, she attended and graduated from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa.
On December 27, 1956, Shirley was united in marriage to Gordon Roese in Pomeroy. She taught school in Peterson, IA, Manson, IA, and Marcus, IA, where she remained until her retirement.
Shirley was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Marcus, IA. She enjoyed volunteering and helping with the church guilds. She enjoyed playing golf, playing cards, and quilting. She also liked spending time with Gordon in Arizona during the cold winter months. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Lillian Hinrichs; and one brother, Lee Hinrichs.
She will lovingly be remembered by her husband, Gordon Roese of Marcus, IA; three sons, Tom (Joy) Roese of Fort Worth, TX, Joel (Gina) Roese of Lindale, TX, and Jon (Barb) Roese of Prior Lake, MN; she is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; other relatives, and friends.
