Sherry Mae Kruse

August 13, 1943 — August 17, 2012

Sherry Mae (Palmer) Kruse, the daughter of Marian (Harrell) and Harry Palmer, Sr., was born on August 13, 1943, in Huron, South Dakota. Her childhood years were spent in Huron where she attended school. She graduated from high school in Cass Lake, Minnesota. She married Melvin Kruse Sr. Following their marriage they lived in Deloit, IA, and the couple had three children, Melvin Jr., Barbara and Kevin. They later divorced. After the dissolution of their marriage she moved to Cherokee where she worked as a CNA She later moved to Lafayette, Louisiana where she resided for 22 years. She moved back to Cherokee, IA is 2006. Sherry enjoyed fishing, gambling and playing BINGO. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and loved a good joke. She was an excellent cook and known for her homemade noodles. She cherished the time spent visiting with family and friends. She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, and The Good Times Place 500 Club. Sherry passed away at the Cherokee Villa Nursing Home on Friday, August 17, 2012, at the age of 69. She was preceded in death three sisters: Twyla McCollum, Loretta Palmer, and Ella Louise McCollum; and one brother, Harry Jr. McCollum. Survivors include her children: Melvin Kruse, Jr. (Sheryl), Barbara Boatman, all of Cherokee, and Kevin Kruse of Sioux City, IA; four grandchildren: Tina (Kruse) Fox and her husband Blake of Cherokee, Dustin Kruse and his wife Kayla of Woodbine, IA, Misty Boatman and special friend Salomon Alvarez-Lopez and Christopher Boatman; four great-grandchildren: Olivia Fox, Kendyl Fox, Rowan Kruse and Christopher Wood; five brothers: Richard Palmer, Amos McCollum, Larry McCollum, Gary McCollum, and Jerry McCollum; three sisters: Rose McCollum, Edith McCollum, and Lola McCollum; as well as other relatives and many friends.

Monday, Aug. 20, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Olive Baptist Church in rural Cherokee.
