Ruth Ann Fangman was born in Cherokee, IA on June 11, 1938, the daughter of William and Philomena (Peppersack) Fangman. She grew up in the area and graduated from Immaculate Conception High School. She attended college in Des Moines, IA, before returning to Cherokee, and began a long career working at Sioux Valley Hospital. She was a nurse’s aide for several years, and then worked in the purchasing department until her retirement.
Ruth Ann did some traveling through the years with her brother, Chuck, and together they enjoyed camping, boating, and visiting family around the country. She was a life-long member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She passed away at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center on Friday, January 4, 2019, at age 80. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Iline and her husband, Dennis Malzer; a brother, Chuck Fangman; and brother-in-law, Bill Perkins.
Those left to cherish her memory include one sister, Rosemary Perkins of Virginia Beach, VA; her nieces and nephews: Mike (Donna) Sholly of Osage, IA, Roxanne (Bill) Bute of Cherokee, Ed (Maxine) Sholly of Osage, IA, Louis (Lori) Sholly of Sadelia, MO, Deb (Tim) Tyler of Elizabeth, LA, Linda (John) Wade and Sharon (Lennie) Fadness, all of Chesapeake, VA; other relatives and friends.
