Ronald Ray Mathew, the son of Bernard and Elizabeth (Barnard) Mathew, was born March 15, 1945, in Lafayette, IN. His childhood years were spent in Wolcott, IN where he attended school and graduated in 1964.  Ron was united in marriage to Barb Glotzbach in Indiana. Following their marriage they lived on the family dairy farm. They were blessed with four daughters. Ron worked at a welding plant and at Wilson Foods. He transferred to Cherokee, IA in 1995 and remained with Wilson Foods.

Ron was later united in marriage to Betty Venteicher on February 24, 1999. They lived on a farm outside of Cleghorn. He raised cattle and hay. Being around cattle brought him great joy. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, especially bass tournaments. He also liked to hunt, garden, and keep his yard neat. He liked to ride motorcycles and winter in Texas the last four years. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
