Ronald James Peters, the son of Carl E. and Sophie C. (Schneider) Peters was born October 21, 1940, in Hawarden, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Hawarden where he attended school and graduated from Hawarden High School in 1957. Ron served in the Army stationed at Ellsworth AFB in Rapid City from 1962 until his honorable discharge in 1965.
On July 28, 1967, Ronald was married to Sally May Brouillette. They lived in Sioux City, IA before moving to Cherokee in 1971. He worked for Northwestern Bell (Century Link) for many years and was known as “the phone man” until his retirement in 1998.
Ronald enjoyed gardening, bowling, jigsaw puzzles, crafts, spending time in the Black Hills, and watching football, especially rooting for the underdog. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
On March 19, 2020, Ronald passed away at his residence in Cherokee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Sophie Peters; one sister, Jean Peters Von Seggern; and brother-in-law, Harlan Seggern.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Sally Peters of Cherokee, IA; sons, Jay (Rubi) Peters of Laverne, MN, Todd (Corrine) Peters of Cherokee, IA, and Marc Peters of Orange City, IA; beloved daughter, Apryl Peters of Cherokee, IA; one brother, Raymond and Pat Peters, from Sioux Falls, SD; and grandchildren, Cara, Nicole, Joshua, Anthony, and Elizabeth.
