Rodney Lee Hall, age 76 of Cherokee, IA, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Unity Point Hospital in Sioux City, IA. A celebration of Rodney’s Life will be held at a later date. The Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee, IA is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.greenwoodfuneral.com.

Rodney Lee Hall, son of Wayne and Velma (Williams) Hall, was born on July 20, 1948, in Fort Dodge, IA. He spent his childhood in Manson, where he attended school. He later went on to attend WITCC where he an associates degree in Desktop Publishing. After high school, Rod worked on a turkey farm. In 1979, he moved his family to Holstein, IA to continue working in the turkey business, and eventually became the owner of Happy Turkeys, Inc. For many years, Rod traveled throughout the Midwest to various turkey farms as a turkey reproduction specialist. He also worked at WITCC as a computer lab technician and taught computer classes. He later moved to Hawarden and worked at L.G. Everist, from which he retired.

In 1972, Rod married Connie Ridge and to this union, three daughters were born, Christa, Carrie and Lindsay. Rod loved his family and spending time with them. He always had corny jokes and entertained people with his stories. Rod loved all animals, but especially dogs. He happily took care of his special buddy, Moe, whenever he was asked.

Rod had several hobbies over the years such as collecting diecast NASCAR cars and playing horseshoes. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren in various activities. He loved to go fishing with his dad and brother, Larry, and took many family camping vacations to Lake Carlos in Minnesota. He also enjoyed woodworking. Rod’s true passion was music. He loved to listen to music (the Beatles were his absolute favorite), sing and play his guitar, and was even in a band in his younger years. After he retired, Rod moved to LeMars and liked to build electric guitars and gifted them to anyone that wanted one. He passed along his love of music to his daughters and grandchildren. He spent his final years in Cherokee, IA so that he could be closer to family.

On December 11, 2024, Rod passed away peacefully after a brief illness at Unity Point Hospital in Sioux City, IA. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jacquelyn Hall and his parents, Wayne and Velma (Williams) Hall.

He will remembered by his daughters, Christa Zeutenhorst (Tim) of Orange City, IA and their children, Caitlin Kelhower, Jaren Kelhower, Ben Zeutenhorst, Samantha Zeutenhorst, and Sydney Zeutenhorst; Carrie Russell (Tim) of Cherokee, IA and her daughter, Hailey Hall; Lindsay Hall (Andrew Conley) of Cherokee, IA and her daughter, Asha Loutsch; his brother, Larry (Deb) Hall of Manson, IA and their daughters, Jean Hall and Jennifer Hall, other relatives and friends.
