Robert “Steven” Dolph passed away Thursday, April 29, 2021 at his home in Cherokee. Steve was born May 4, 1965 in Red Oak, IA to Robert and Mary (Albright) Dolph.
In April of 1973, the family moved to Cherokee. Steve continued his education in Cherokee and graduated from high school in 1984.
He was always active in sports. He played Little League Baseball as a child and football and basketball in middle school and high school. He was a member of the 1984 basketball team that went to state. After high school, he attended WIT in Sioux City, graduating in 1986. He joined the Army Reserves in 1987 and served 28 years and was deployed three times.
Steve was employed at Fareway Grocery Store for 33 ½ years at Cherokee and Le Mars in the meat department.
On April 21, 1990, Steve was united in marriage to Lori Van Ort at the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee. To this union they had two children, Morgan Kay and Kyle Steven.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bob Dolph; an infant sister, Cynthia; grandmothers, Monda Albright and Lola Fort; three uncles, Irv, Harry, and Vern Albright; grandpa and grandma, Bacon; John Dolph; father-in-law, Bernie Van Oort; and brother-in-law, Tom Van Oort.
Steve is survived by his daughter Morgan (Jaz); son, Kyle (Maggie); mother, Mary Dolph; brothers, Alan and Jodee Dolph; sisters, Holly Dolph and significant other David Erickson, and Polly and Shane Wilson; ex wife, Lori; mother-in-law, Kay Van Oort; special friend, Dian Bush; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
