Robert John Glassmaker, the son of Ray and Helen (Steichen) Glassmaker was born on July 23, 1955, in Cherokee, IA. His childhood years were spent on the farm. He attended Maryhill School until its closing and graduated from Meriden-Cleghorn High School.
On June 27, 1980, Bob was united in marriage to Sherill Lawson at Maryhill Visitation Catholic Church. Following their marriage Bob farmed until the time of his death. He was known for being a hard worker, a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, as well as a loyal friend.
Bob was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus. He was passionate about donating his time to several organizations including Mary's Choice and was a crusader for pro-life. Bob took great joy in helping the many foster children he and Sherill have welcomed into their home over the years. Bob enjoyed helping anyone he could and especially enjoyed the time spent with his family and friends.
On October 15, 2016, Bob passed away at Cherokee Regional Medical Center at the age of 61. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Helen Glassmaker; in laws, Ron and Eleanor Lawson; one sister, Mary Dickes; and one grandchild, Baby Steffes.
He is survived by his wife, Sherill Glassmaker; children and their families, Ronita (Tim) Steffes and their children, Jillian, Makayla, Emmet, Abi, Cali, and Eleanor; Vincent (Jayme) Glassmaker and their children, Bayle, Olivia, Lance, Isabel, and Samantha; and Shavon (Aarron) Cronin and their children, Matthew, Abram, Job, Francis, Arlo, and James; Ali Glassmaker, Abraham Bertrand, and Jack Milliken; his siblings: Phylis (Bob) Walton, Diane (Doug) Henke, Tom, Bill (Violet), Joe (Pat) Joan Nicoli, Michelle (Rich) Moret, Janet (Mike) Kruse, Dave (Michelle) Pete, Chris (Jamie) Wankum, and Liz (Marc) Mallory; a sister-in-law, Sandy Peters; several nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus.

VISITATION
Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Marcus. There will be a 7:00 p.m. rosary and 7:30 prayer service following the visitation Tuesday at the funeral home.
