Robert “Bob” Allen Kirchner, the son of Harry and Anna Mae (Davis) Kirchner, was born September 9, 1960, in Mapleton, IA. His childhood years were spent in Quimby, IA, where he attended school and graduated from Willow High School. After high school, he worked at Simonsen’s Mill in Quimby. He then worked for Beal’s Motor Repair from 1984-2008, before going to work for R.J. Thomas in Cherokee.
On August 1, 1981, Bob was united in marriage to Sandy Wahlstrom in Cherokee. They resided in Cherokee. Bob was an active member in the Cherokee area. He worked as a police officer in Aurelia for many years. He also was a reserve police officer for the Cherokee Police Department. Bob was also instrumental along with Bob Leach, in starting the Reserve Unit- Cherokee Sheriff’s Office.
Bob enjoyed camping, fishing, metal detecting, and making things with his scroll saw. Most of all, he enjoyed the time spent with his family and friends.
On Sunday, July 3, 2022, Bob passed away unexpectedly at his residence at the age of 61. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Anna Mae Kirchner; aunt and uncle, Dale (Effie) Riordan, cousin, Gary Riordan, and grandfather-in-law, Joe Beals, Sr.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Sandy Kirchner of Cherokee, IA; daughter, Ninya Miller of Shenandoah, IA; granddaughter, Kiana Miller; brother and sister-in-law, Craig (Chris) Wahlstrom of Hinton, IA; cousin, Roger Riordan; uncle, Don (Mary) Roggatz; niece, Cortni Miller and her children, Collin and Caydin; grandmother-in-law, Bertie Beals; and other relatives and friends.
