Rita Mary Donaldson, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Kohn) Rupp, was born September 9, 1918, at Maryhill, rural Cherokee, IA. Her childhood years were spent around the Maryhill area where she attended school. After her schooling, Rita stayed at home to help her family.
On February 22, 1938, Rita was united in marriage to Harold Donaldson at the Visitation Catholic Church at Maryhill, rural Cherokee, IA. Following their marriage, they moved to a farm near Maryhill then later to the Cleghorn area. Rita remained at home where she and her husband farmed and raised their 10 children.
Rita was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, gardening, traveling, playing cards, and was well known for her bread making. Most of all, Rita loved being around her family and friends.
On July 17, 2010, Rita passed away at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, IA, at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Anna Rupp; husband, Harold Donaldson in 1990; one son, Lester Donaldson in 2000; one daughter, June Donaldson in 1954; and five brothers: Robert, Guy, Lester, Cletus, and Ivan Rupp.
She is survived by eight children: Norma (Dennis) Railsback of Ida Grove, IA, Louis (Karol) Donaldson of Littleton, CO, Doris (Mike) O'Dell of Marion, IN, Paul (Val) Donaldson of Dakota Dunes, SD, Phylis (Brian) Walsh of Alta, IA, Dean Donaldson, Janet Johnson of Valparaiso, IN, and Nancy George of Cherokee, IA; one daughter-in-law, Karen Donaldson of Cleghorn; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Rosemary Meyer of Washington and Josephine Tuttle of Oregon; two brothers: Beryl Rupp of Oregon and Norman Rupp of Cherokee, IA; as well as other nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends
SERVICES
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus.

VISITATION
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, with the family present from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday night at Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee.
There will be a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at Greenwood Funeral Home.
