Rebecca “Becky” Tuttle, the daughter of Erick and Josephine (Curtis) Johnson was born on April 8, 1944 in Cherokee, IA. Her childhood years were spent in Cherokee, where she was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She graduated from Washington High School in 1962. After graduation, she attended NBT in Sioux City, IA.
On April 14, 1963, Becky was united in marriage to Jerry Tuttle on Easter Sunday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. They were blessed with five children; Erica, Rachel, Mark, Jennifer, and Heidi. Becky was a stay-at-home mom and farmer’s wife while her children were young – a job she took to heart and worked hard at. In her later years she was a cook and para-professional at Willow Community School, co-owned and operated a cleaning business, and worked at Synergy in the drug rehab unit.
She enjoyed playing cards, spending time at the Good Times Club, having coffee with friends, gardening, traveling, and being a member of the WaTanYe Club. She loved that they were able to live and travel in Europe while Jerry was stationed in Germany with the Army. Her time with her kids and grandkids was precious.
Throughout her life, Becky was surrounded by many caring and loving friends and family. This support was invaluable to our family and for that we are forever grateful. We would also like to express our thanks to the staff at Careage Hills and Cherokee Hospice for the excellent care they gave to Becky.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Tuttle; parents, Erick and Josephine Johnson; grandson, Henry Schally; and parents-in-law, Ernest and Augusta Tuttle.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children; Erica (Tyler) Messerole and their children, Kelsey and Joe, Rachel (Bruce) Eckenrod and their children, Kiley and Kalen (fiancé Emileigh), Mark (Kim) Tuttle and their children, Tracie and Jessica, Jennifer (Troy) Schally and their son, Eli, Heidi (Tom) Todd and their children, Paige, Ben, and Jack; brothers, Carl (Joann) Johnson, and Bill (Sue) Johnson; in-laws, John (Liz) Tuttle, Ronald Tuttle, Deloris Rogers, and Florence Tuttle; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials that will be donated to organizations dear to Becky.
