Patricia Jane Brady

September 4, 1935 — January 21, 2021

Patricia Jane Brady, the daughter of Cecil and Agnes (Crawford) Krohn, was born September 4, 1935, in Atlantic, IA. Her childhood years were spent in Adair, Iowa before moving to Remsen, Iowa in 1942, where she attended school and graduated from Remsen St. Mary’s High School. On August 9, 1955, Patricia was united in marriage to Philip Brady of Marcus, IA. They farmed north of Marcus, IA for many years until moving to Marcus in 1984.

Patricia was an active member of Holy Name Catholic Church. At Holy Name Church, she served as a lector, Eucharistic Minister, and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and Guild. Within the Marcus community, she volunteered as a poll worker, assisted with the Marcus Fair judging, and visited and mentored seniors. She enjoyed playing and winning at Pinochle with family and in card clubs (“A good scorekeeper always wins.”). She was an avid quilter and member of multiple quilting groups, and enjoyed golfing and bowling. But most of all, she enjoyed the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren cherished and will remember fondly summers spent during “kids’ time at Grandma Pat’s.”

On January 21, 2021, Patricia passed away at Floyd Valley Healthcare at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by her father Cecil Krohn and mother and step-father Agnes and Eddy Ruden; her husband, Phil Brady in 1984; grandson, Brent Schluttner in 1988, and son Kevin Brady, in 2016; in-laws, John and Anna Brady, and brothers-in-law Lawrence Brady and Freddy (Sparky) Schmidt.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children: David Brady of Omaha, NE, Kevin’s wife, Michelle Brady of Sioux City, IA, Katie (Mark) Brady-Schluttner of Oronoco, MN, Dennis (June) Brady of Marcus, IA, Denise (Joe) Brady-Miller of Sioux City, IA, Shawn (Barb) Brady of Marcus, IA, Carol (Bob) Livermore of Le Mars, IA, Terry Brady of West Des Moines, IA, and Megan (Laura) Brady of West Des Moines, IA; grandchildren: Taleen Brady, Erin (Jacob) Bowers, Justine (Alex) Alcaraz, Kaitlyn (Derek) Christensen, Eric (Chloe) Schluttner, Jason (Rachel) Schluttner, Kristine Schluttner, Matt Brady, Ashley Brady, Sammie Miller, Jimmy Miller, Becca Miller, Alex Miller, Joe (Jackie) Brady, Alissa (Ryan) Paulsen, Mitch Brady, Patrick (Cara) Livermore, Megan Livermore, Brady Livermore, Sydney Livermore, Ryan Livermore, Kenley Brady, and Harper Brady; great-grandchildren Cameron, Joanna, Beaux, Kade, Mila, Moses, Solomon, and Ike; twin sister, Rosy Schmidt of Remsen, IA, sister, Celine (John) Pedersen of Marcus, IA, sister-in-law Helen Brady of Marcus, IA, and brother-in-law Gene (Sherry) Brady of Urbandale, IA; and many relatives and friends.
