Patricia Graybill

December 18, 1942 — November 19, 2014

Patricia "Pat" Graybill, the daughter of William and Luella (Sanders) Schumann was born December 18, 1942 in Storm Lake, IA. Her father was killed in WWII when Patty was two years old. Her mother was united in marriage to Don Herron a few years later. Her childhood years were spent near Varina, IA. She graduated from Albert City-Truesdale High School. After graduation, she attended Buena Vista College for one year. On October 8, 1960, Pat was united in marriage to Gaylen Graybill. They lived in Cherokee, where she stayed home and helped raise her six boys. She also worked at various other jobs over the years. Pat will be remembered for her caring personality. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and had a hard time saying "No". She loved spoiling them any chance she had. Pat enjoyed reading books, watching football, especially the Minnesota Vikings, and watching NASCAR. She always looked forward to the annual family reunions. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. On Wednesday, November 19, 2014 Patty passed away unexpectedly at her home in Cherokee. She was preceded in death by her parents William Schumann and Don and Luella Herron; her husband, Gaylen Graybill, Sr.; one son, Cory Graybill; and several aunts and uncles. She will be lovingly remembered by her five sons and their wives: Terry (Lou) Graybill of Cherokee, IA, Brett (Jayla) Graybill of Cherokee, IA, Barry (Jayne) Graybill of Marian, IA, Gaylen (Melanie) Graybill, Jr. of Marian, IA, and Shane (Michelle) Graybill of Amarillo, TX; 13 grandchildren: Heath (Rachel Wilkinson), Nathan and Krystle, Bart and Kim, Alayne, Aliyah, Zach, Jacob (Diana Boyce), Tyler, Chase, Dylan, Hayley, Hayden, and Morgan; six great-grandchildren; a special friend Kathy (Dave) Domsch of Cherokee, IA; other relatives and friends.
