Natalee June Henke, the daughter of Ted and Tracee (Voetberg) Henke was born June 1, 2000, in Cherokee, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent on the family farm south of Marcus. She attended school at MMC and was currently a senior at MMCRU.
In the spring of 2018, Natalee completed her CNA in preparation for nursing school. She babysat when she wasn’t busy in sports. She was an active volunteer in the community, earning her silver cord hours. She had planned to attend the University of South Dakota nursing program.
Natalee loved sports and playing with her teammates. Softball was her favorite sport. She played every year from t-ball through high school. She spent three years as a football cheerleader, two years playing volleyball, one year running track, and one year of drill team.
Besides sports, she loved movies and musicals and doing things with her friends. Natalee loved going to Big Pine Lake every summer with her family. She was always spunky and on the go, never knowing how to sit still. She loved hugs!
On Monday, September 10, 2018, Natalee passed away unexpectedly from natural causes at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee. She was 18. She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Ray and Agnes Henke, Ray and Helen Glassmaker, Ben and Jessie Voetberg, and Fred and Verna Gayer; she is also preceded in death by several great-aunts, and uncles.
She will be lovingly remembered by her parents, Ted and Tracee Henke; her siblings, Justin, Elizabeth, and Matthew Henke all of Washta, IA; grandparents, Doug and Diane Henke of Washta, IA, and Marlo and June Voetberg of Marcus, IA; aunts, uncles, and cousins: Tim and Lori Dreckman of Marcus, IA and their daughters, Kaylee Dreckman of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Erica and Sarah Dreckman both of Marcus, IA, Jon and Brenda Neumann of Kingsley, IA and their children, Travis and Alexa Neumann of Sheldon, IA, Emily, Austin, Madelyn, Evan, and Jackson Neumann of Kingsley, IA, Jon and Ashley Smith of Sioux City, IA, Kyle and Julie Sedore of Des Moines, IA and their daughter Alexa, and Ben and Debbie Voetberg of Dayton, Ohio and their children, Brian, Chris, Erin, and Pete Voetberg; and her very special friend, Jordan Marks of Remsen, IA.
Burial will be in Holy Name Cemetery in Marcus
