Nancy Ann Brutsman, the daughter of Elmer and Adelia (Knaack) Timmerman, was born on July 8, 1950, in Cherokee, IA. She was confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Her childhood years were spent on the farm near Holstein. She attended school in Holstein and graduated from Holstein High School in 1968.
Following High School, Nancy moved to Storm Lake, IA, and was united in marriage to Paul Meyer. They had one son, Kim. They divorced seven years later. She raised Kim and worked for Aalfs Manufacturing for 15 years until it closed.
She moved to Cherokee, and on June 30, 1995, Nancy was united in marriage to Harry Brutsman Jr. She worked at CRMC, MHI, and Hy-Vee for 20 years where she was department head at WITCC Conference Center and floral department. She retired in 2014.
Nancy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee. She enjoyed camping and being outdoors, gardening, and taking her beloved dog Maggie for walks. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
On Friday, August 17, Nancy passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee at the age of 68. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Adelia Timmerman.
She will lovingly be remembered by her husband, Harry Brutsman Jr. of Cherokee, IA; son, Kim (Cristy) Meyer of Dakota City, IA; sisters: LaVonne Petersen of Phoenix, AZ, Doris Timmerman of Columbus, IA, Lorine Newman of Ida Grove, IA, and Donna Miller of Cherokee, IA; brother, Marvin Timmerman of Cherokee, IA; granddaughters, Kayla Meyer and Kemra Meyer; great-granddaughters, Addison (Kemra) and Rilyn (Kayla).
