Michael Halder, the son of Raymond and Betty (Milefchik) Halder, was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa on September 10, 1955. In 1968 his family moved to Cherokee where he attended school, eventually graduating from Washington High School in 1973.
On May 30, 1980 he was united in marriage to Deborah Rupp. They remained in Cherokee and soon started their family. Mike spent many years working as an auto-parts salesman throughout the area. Prior to retirement, he worked as the sign superintendent for Cherokee County.
Never the person to sit still, Mike enjoyed many hobbies including camping, golfing, fishing, among many others. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and supporting them on the court and stage. He was also an avid fan of all sports, always rooting for the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Mike is survived by his wife of 41 years, Deb of Cherokee, IA; children Nick of Dubuque, IA; Rachel and husband Cody Lucas of Cherokee, IA and Jennifer of Cherokee, IA; grandchildren Emerson and Mia Lucas of Cherokee, IA; in-laws LeRoy and Bonnie Rupp of Cherokee, IA.
He is also survived by brothers Randy (Lori) of Seward, NE, Kevin (Kathi) of Cherokee, IA and Neal (Elizabeth) of Ankeny, IA; sisters Janet (John) Nicolino of Des Moines, IA, Charlotte (Dan) Schueder of Cherokee, IA, Debra Foreman of Marshall, MO, Nancy (Brad) Rupp of Davenport, FL, Cindy (Rick) Adams of Clive, IA, and Catherine (Rick) Roe of Clive, IA; sister-in-law Roxane (Mike) Moller of Cherokee, IA and brother-in-law Kyle (Jody) Rupp of Gretna, NE; 26 nieces and nephews and countless friends.
Mike was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah in 1986; brother-in-law, Kurt Rupp and his parents.
