Michael Kramer, age 79 of Cherokee, IA, passed away Friday, October 27, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Society in Le Mars, IA. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee, IA. Father Dan Rupp will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Cherokee, IA. Visitation with family present will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee, IA. There will be a 7:00 p.m. prayer service, Monday night following the visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Mike’s name to be used for future projects that were dear to him. It would also be Mike’s wish for people attending his service to dress casual. The Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee, IA, is assisting the family with arrangements. Michael “Mike” Leon Kramer, the son of Bernard and Marie (Ocken) Kramer, was born October 24, 1944, in Carrol, IA. His childhood years were spent in Pocahontas, IA, where he attended school and graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School. Following high school, Mike served with the U.S. Army until his honorable discharge.
Mike was united in marriage to Pauline White on February 13, 1971, at Fonda, IA. They were blessed with two children, Jeff and Chad. They resided in Cherokee, IA, where he worked for Wilson’s Foods for over 45 years until his retirement in 2013.
Mike was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved tending to his “farm”. Whether it would be planting trees, mowing the grass, establishing food plots, or taking his family hunting, he loved the time spent outdoors. Mike also enjoyed playing cards and visiting friends at coffee. Most of all he enjoyed the time spent with family and attending his grandchildren’s activities.
On Friday, October 27, 2023, Mike passed away at the Good Samaritan Society, In Le Mars, IA, at the age of 79, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Marie Kramer; a sister, Ruth Reis; brothers, Leon Kramer, Vernis Kramer, Eugene Kramer, Loren Kramer, Kenneth Kramer, Bernard Kramer, Jr, and Gerald Kramer; sisters-in-law, JoAnn Kramer and Gladys Kramer; and father and mother-in law, Lawrence (Teresa) White
He will lovingly be remembered by his wife of 52 years, Pauline Kramer of Cherokee, IA; two sons, Jeff (Tamara) Kramer and Chad (Theresa) Kramer all of Le Mars, IA; five grandchildren, Traegen, Jaxten, Addison, Kenzlee, and Dylan; brothers, Robert (Mariam) Kramer, and John (Sandi) Kramer; one sister, Linda (Dick) Wirges; sisters-in-law, Marge Kramer, Marlene Kramer, Barb Kramer of Fort Dodge, IA, Adele (Mike) Moralez of Raleigh, NC, and Teresa (Jeff) Weinzetl of Queen Creek, AZ; brother-in-law, Dave (Sue) White of Eagle Grove, IA, Tom White of Albuquerque, NM, Mark (Vicki) White of Cherokee, IA, and John (Kim) White of Albuquerque, NM; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation with family present will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee, IA. A prayer service will be held Monday, following visitation at the funeral home.
