Michael Joseph Jansen

August 10, 1959 — March 8, 2016

Michael Joseph Jansen passed peacefully from this life the evening of March 8th 2016 after a steady decline in health. He was surrounded and supported by his loving family and caretakers during the last days of his life. Mike was born August 10, 1959 in Storm Lake, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Marian Jansen. He was a graduate of Storm Lake St. Mary's High School in 1977. Later that summer on August 19th he was united in marriage to Polly Q. Putnam. Mike attended WITCC where he received his practical nursing diploma. He worked many years in nursing homes before finding his mission of delivering and setting up medical equipment. Mike's greatest joy was simply spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling, camping, and just being out in the great outdoors. He enjoyed playing cards and catching up with his Moose Lodge family. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 38 years and their four children: Jeremy Jansen (Natasha) of Wayne, NE along with their children, Tristan, Haley, Alexandra, and Gracie; Jelynda Morse (Darren) of Marcus, IA and their son, Grady; Justin Jansen (his significant other, Jennifer Johnson) of Marcus, IA along with their children Katelyn, Ekko, Angel, Savannah, Jacob and Clayton; and the above mentioned Angel, whom was adopted by Mike and Polly in 2013. Also left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Al (Ginny) Jansen of Omaha, NE; Don (Pam) Jansen of Le Mars, IA; Steve Jansen of Omaha, NE; Barb Jansen of Omaha, NE; Rick Jansen of Omaha, NE; and Theresa Drewes (Eddie) of Craig, MO. Mike has a large extended family, many of whom surely could tell us a story or two about him! Also having fond remembrances are his mother-in-law, Hazel Putnam of Cherokee, IA and his dear friend, Skip McCloud, also of Cherokee. Mike is now rejoicing in heaven with his parents and grandparents. The family reunion also includes his beloved son, Jared; his father-in-law, Bud; three sisters-in-law; Anita, Sandy, and Trudie. A nephew, Tom, and a niece, Jodi.
