Michael Dale Resene, the son of Merlin and Lorilla (Whiting) Resene, was born on August 21, 1953, in Storm Lake, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Aurelia, IA where he graduated from high school. He attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake where he earned Bachelor Degrees in nursing and counseling. After college, Michael served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era until his honorable discharge.
On November 13, 1995, Michael was united in marriage to Susie Norris in Elk Point, SD. Following their marriage they lived in Colorado for 5 years. They also lived Kingsley, IA, Aurelia, IA, Early, IA, and several other towns before moving to Cherokee, IA. Mike worked various jobs but will be remembered for his ability to paint cars at his dad's shop in Aurelia.
Mike enjoyed fishing, gardening, painting, being outdoors, camping, and most of all, spending time with his family and friends. Mike will always be known as someone who would step forward and help anybody in need, and someone who was proud of and very much loved his two children.
On Wednesday, August 6, 2014, Mike passed away at his home in Cherokee, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Bob, Ben, and Dick; and two brothers-in-law, Don Calvert and Herman Woltman.
He is survived by his wife, Susie Resene of Cherokee, IA; one daughter, Michelle Resene of Wilmington, Connecticut; one son, Shawn Resene of Sioux City, IA; sisters: Wanda Woltman of Aurelia, IA, Sharon Lough of Spencer, IA, Sandra Resene of California, and Janny Calvert of North Liberty, IA; nieces and nephews; and his best friend; Doc Coombs of Cherokee.
