Mary LaVonne Davis was born in Cherokee, Iowa on January 21, 1927 to Lawrence and Cecelia (Zembsch) Trainor. She attended Immaculate Conception School from where she graduated in 1945. During her high school years she was a cheerleader, Representor girl at graduation and worked at F.W. Woolworth's. After graduation she worked for Iowa Public Service Electric Co. from 1945 to 1952. She also worked for the Cherokee Community School District in the hot lunch department at the Larrabee Elementary School from 1968 to 1973.
On February 18, 1950 she married Harold Davis. They had three daughters, Diane, Donna Sue and Denise. For 37 years they farmed by Larrabee until they retired and moved back to Cherokee in 1987. Harold passed away on February 24, 2002.
Mary enjoyed being a farm wife and mother to her three girls. She also enjoyed planting a vegetable garden and flowers every year on the farm, dancing, crocheting, cooking, decorating cakes, being with friends and family and playing 500 and bridge.
Mary went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 16, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband, father, mother, sister Lois Rupp, brother Donald Trainor, brothers-in-law Sylvester Rupp and Glenn Davis and sons-in-law Robert Byers and John Klesmith.
She is survived by her three daughters, Diane Byers (Cherokee), Donna Sue Klesmith (Indianapolis, In.) and Denise (Sterling) Richards (Des Moines), grandson Eric Klotz (Chicago, Ill.) and a sister-in-law Helen Davis (Cherokee).
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, April 20, 2015, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee.

VISITATION
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday night with the family present at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee. There will be a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the funeral home Sunday following the visitation.
