Mary Ann Bush, the daughter of John and Lena (Gengler) Nilles, was born May 2, 1919, in Remsen, IA. Her childhood years were spent in Remsen where she attended Remsen Catholic Boarding School. After her schooling, Mary Ann worked as a caretaker for a family where she cooked, cleaned, and helped with their children.
On January 6, 1942, Mary Ann was united in marriage to Lester Bush in Remsen. Following their marriage, they lived on the family farm where she helped with chores and raised their 10 children.
Mary Ann was a member of Maryhill Catholic Church, the Maryhill Guild, and the Catholic Daughters of America. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, dancing, snowmobiling, traveling, and of all things doing laundry, but most of all Mary Ann enjoyed being around her family and friends. The last several years have been spent at Carriage Hills in Cherokee, where she had many friends.
On May 9, 2010, Mary Ann passed away at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, IA at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Lester Bush; her parents, John and Lena Nilles; her son Mike Bush in 1981, daughter, Sharon Geary in 2000, brother and sister-in-law, Ted and Julia Nilles; sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Marvin Kohn; and two brothers-in-law, Ray Grage and Francis Jaminet.
She is survived be her children: Shirley Bush of Urbandale, IA, Elaine (David) Kaltved of Estherville, IA, Ron (Gayla) Bush of Quimby, IA, Barb Butler of Omaha, NE, Phil (Norma) Bush of Cleghorn, IA, Sandy (Tim) Tuttle of Aurelia, IA, Jackie (Scott) Reinert of Cherokee, IA, Les Bush of Aurelia, IA; daughter-in-law, Julie (Chuck) Woolley of Cherokee, IA; and son-in-law, Skip Geary of Texas; two sisters, Marge Grage of Remsen, IA, and Phyllis Jaminet of Cherokee, IA; 21 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; as well as several nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, May 13, 2010, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee, IA.

Visitation will begin at noon on Wednesday, with the family present from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Wednesday night at Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee. The Catholic Daughter's will preside over a rosary starting at 4:00 P.M. Wednesday. There will be a prayer service at 7:00 P.M.,Wednesday night at Greenwood Funeral Home
