Mark was born on June 18, 1951 in Cherokee, Iowa to Floyd Lavern Courtright and Margaret Mary Kohn Courtright. Mark graduated from Willow Community High School in 1969 in Quimby, Iowa.
Mark enlisted in the Iowa Air National Guard out of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa on January 22, 1970. He served six years and was discharged January 21, 1976. Mark married Deborah Lea Wright on June 19, 1971 at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Quimby, Iowa. Mark served on the Cherokee Fair Board for many years. He was an active Boy Scout leader to his two sons. Mark was Catholic and a 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus. Mark worked for Simonsen's, Harmon Heating, Holzauer's, Clark's Building Center and Taylor Refrigeration over the years and retired December 1, 2014, after working 29 years at the Cherokee REC (now Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative). Mark's goal in life was to see all 50 states and he has done all but three, whether it was by car, snowmobile or motorcycle. He was a nature lover and loved to go out west to see the mountains! He loved woodworking especially making things for his family, including a walnut gun cabinet for his son Chris. He was a jack-of-all-trades and he and Debbie renovated an 1896 Victorian home for over 35 years. He loved to help people and was always willing to share his skills and knowledge to help family, friends, community and even strangers with any project. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Margaret Courtright; wife, Debbie; his two sons Chris (Heidi) Courtright, of Cherokee, IA, and Andrew (Callie) Courtright of Waukee, IA; his grandchildren, Brett (Brittany) Courtright and their children, Sophia, Chloe and Cole of Cherokee, IA, Dustin (fianc� Sami Eberly) Courtright of Cherokee, IA, Madison and Megan Courtright of Cherokee, IA, and Maninoa, Avea and Manaia Courtright of Waukee, IA; his siblings, Stanley Courtright of Inver Grove Heights, MN, Joseph (Nancy Jackson) Courtright of Hinton, IA, Annette Bray of Palmer, IA, Mary Jo Mattheis of Bellevue, NE, James (Barb) Courtright of Burnsville, MN and Holly Pitts (fianc�`Al Monaco) of Omaha, NE; brothers-in-law Gary (Dorothy) Wright of Vermillion, SD, Phillip (Carolyn) Wright of Cherokee, IA, Michael (Ann) Wright of Cherokee, IA, sisters-in-law Carol (Richard) Wych, Cathy (Larry) Nicolaisen, Terri Chester and brother-in-law Douglas Wright all of Quimby, IA;many nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Lavern Courtright, grandparents Noel and Vesta Courtright, Uncle Clayton Courtright, grandparents Frank and Josephine Kohn, father-in-law Dale Wright, mother-in-law Ann King Wright, sister-in-law Nancy Wright, nephews Corey and Justin Nicolaisen.
Our family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center Hospice, Dr. Stephen Veit of Cherokee, IA., Dr. Katherine Price, and Dr. Robert Foote of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2015, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee.

VISITATION
Visitation will begin at noon on Sunday, with the family present from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee in Cherokee. There will be a prayer service and rosary at 3:00 p.m. following the visitation at the funeral home.
