Marilyn "Babe" Spindler, the daughter of Joseph and Agnes (Trainer) Shea was born June 9, 1922, in Cherokee, IA. Her childhood years were spent in Cherokee where she attended school and graduated from Wilson High School in 1940.
On March 18, 1944, Babe was united in marriage to Crowley Spindler at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee. Following their marriage they moved to Marfa, TX where Crowley served with the Army Air Corps. Following his service they farmed near Galva, IA before moving to Carroll in 1971.
Babe was a member of St. Lawrence Parish in Carroll. She was an avid sports fan especially when it came to golf and watching the Chicago Cubs. Her favorite holiday was St. Patrick's Day. She was always up for a good party and she will always be known as the lady that golfed bare foot.
On January 8, 2017, Babe passed away at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee at the age of 94. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Agnes Shea; and her two sisters, Marjorie McCullough and Norrine Shea.
She is survived by her children: Ed and Sherri of Silver City, NM, Jim of Minneapolis, MN, Bill and Sue of Cherokee, IA, Tom and Pam of Cresco, IA, and Kathleen and Duane of Omaha, NE; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; other relatives; and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2016, at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday night with the family present during that time at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee.
