Margaret Marcella (Wentworth) Roethler was born October 20, 1923 to Grace (Campbell) and Earl Wentworth. She grew up in the Cherokee area, and graduated from I. C. Catholic High School in Cherokee. She married Kenneth Roethler in 1946 and the couple made their home in Larrabee.
Their family eventually grew to include eight children, so for many years, Margaret was a busy mother and homemaker. She cooked and canned most of their homegrown fruits and vegetables. One of her family’s favorite meals was her fried chicken Sunday dinner. When Kenneth was running a service station in Larrabee, Margaret helped out by doing the books. She thoroughly enjoyed the 30+ years spent serving meals at the school, because she loved being around the children. Church was very important to Margaret, and she served in several different capacities there, as well. She was truly blessed with the gift of serving others.
When the family expanded to include grandchildren, Margaret loved to babysit the little ones. She enjoyed reading the Sunday paper and magazines. She donated to many different charities, and sent out countless cards to relatives and friends throughout the year. She liked going out to eat at Danny’s Restaurant. She faithfully attended mass as long as she was able.
On Wednesday, January 17, 2018, Margaret passed away at Accura Healthcare in Cherokee, at the age of 94. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Rozella (Robert) Bushlow, and Mary Wentworth; a brother, Daniel Wentworth; her husband, Kenneth Roethler; a daughter, MaryAnne James; and a son-in-law, Richard Duke.
