Maralyn Christensen

Maralyn Jean Christensen the daughter of Ralph and Betty Viola, was born on November 21, 1950 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Council Bluffs, IA where she attended school and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1968, followed by a degree in Radiology from The Mercy School of Nursing. On July 13, 1974, she was united in marriage to Robert Allen Christensen in Las Vegas, Nevada. Bob and Maralyn were blessed with three children, Matt Christensen, Melissa Leeds of Cherokee, and Melanie Graybill of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Maralyn worked in Radiology at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center for 37 years where she considered her colleagues family. She enjoyed world travel, especially her trips to Italy and Europe. She enjoyed dancing, listening to live country concerts, cooking, power shopping, remodeling the house, playing cards, Cadillacs and diamonds, and Iowa State Sports. She loved to entertain family and friends with parties at the house, but loved spoiling her grandchildren the most. She was preceded in death by her son, Matt Christensen, and her father Ralph Viola. Maralyn is survived by her husband, Robert Christensen of Cherokee, IA; daughters: Melanie Graybill and her husband Gaylen of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Melissa Leeds and her husband Mark of Cherokee; grandchildren: Tyler, Chase, and Dylan Graybill, and Rubi, Kyle, Kaiden, Kassie, Katelyn, and Alex Leeds; her Mother Betty Viola of Remsen, IA; one brother, Mike (Kathy) Viola of Prior Lake, MN; and numerous family and friends. Maralyn loved her husband Bob, Family, Grandchildren, Work Associates, and Friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 230 N. Roosevelt Ave. in Cherokee.

Monday, August 5th from 1:00 until 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee.

3:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 6th at Exira Cemetery, Exira, IA
