Lucile Reyer, the daughter of Gustav and Hannah (Voss) Nelson was born on December 16, 1927, on the farm near Sac City, IA. Her childhood years were spent in Sac City where she attended school and graduated from Sac City High School in 1946.
On November 6, 1948, Lucile was united in marriage to Lawrence Reyer in Sac City, Iowa. They lived in Cedar Falls, IA until the 1970’s, and then moved to Frederika, IA. Lawrence passed way on December 23, 1991. In 2015, Lucile moved to Cherokee to be closer to family.
Lucile worked various places including Rath Packing Company in Waterloo, IA; Jordan’s Nursery, where she made Christmas decorations; and many tailoring and sewing jobs. She always had a helping hand for others.
Her hobbies included sewing, embroidery, crocheting, knitting, and other crafts. She was an avid baker, canner, and gardener. Everyone will always remember her famous Christmas goodies. Lucile also enjoyed the many fishing trips with her family where she would cook delightful meals using her homemade portable kitchen.
On March 31, 2018, Lucile passed away at Accura Healthcare in Cherokee at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Reyer; son, Ron Reyer; one brother, Lawrence Nelson; and sister, Viola Zobel.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Reed Reyer of Iowa, Ralene (Ed) Glenn of Helena, MT, and Lenus Reyer of Larrabee, IA and his fiancé Melanie Medel of Bacolod, PH; one daughter-in-law, Linda Reyer of Southaven, MS; grandchildren, Lisa Oswald of Temecula, CA, Erik (Rebecca) Reyer of Baltic, CT, Heather (Scott) Hedrick of Mt. Vernon, IN, Britt Glenn of Tenino, WA, Will Glenn of Craig, AK, Travis Glenn of Missoula, MT, and Katharine Monaghan of Tulsa, OK; she is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Lucile Reyer, age 90 of Cherokee, IA, passed away Saturday March 31, 2018, at Accura Healthcare in Cherokee. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 6th at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee.
