Lorraine Louise Steuck Boardman, the daughter of Alfred and Louise (Ginger) Steuck, was born on July 7, 1930. She passed on November 30, 2020, at the age of 90.
Baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, she became a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Sutherland, IA. She attended rural country school and Sutherland High School and received her GED in 1984 at Northwest Iowa Tech.
She was united in marriage to Gail Boardman on January 9, 1947 and they were blessed with two children. They lived most of their lives in the Sutherland area.
She was employed as a nurse’s aid, a librarian assistant at the Cherokee and Sutherland library and elementary school. She cooked for dinner dates, and was a receptionist for DHS. Most of all, she enjoyed being a homemaker, cooking and baking, which she was known for her caramel rolls. Lorraine also enjoyed reading, playing cards, and having family dinners.
She belonged to Lamplighters, Merry Committee, and was President and County President of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by one daughter, Marla Aldag and her husband Ted, from Kiron, IA; one sister, Kary Gopperton and husband Roger, of Sutherland, IA; one brother, Kenneth Steuck of Harlingen, TX; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gail who passed away in November of 2008; her son, Lonny who passed away in December of 2010; grandson, Jody Little who passed away September of 2018; her parents, Alfred and Louise Steuck; sister-in-law, Addy Steuck; one nephew, Robbie Steuck; one baby sister; great-grandchildren, Shonda and Austin; and other relatives and friends.
