Leland Sanford Hogue, the son of Karl and Ruth (McCrill) Hogue, was born in Ute, IA on August 8, 1922. His childhood years were spent in the Marcus, IA area, where he graduated from high school in 1940.
During WWII, he proudly served his country as a corporal in the Army Infantry. He was a member of the 86th Division, serving in Central Europe and the Philippines.
Leland was united in marriage to Jean Bass in Lincoln, NE on July 28, 1947. The following year he attended watchmaker school in Kansas City, MO. They made their home and raised their family in Marcus. He owned and operated the Hogue Jewelry Store from 1950 - 2012. He also worked at Wurth Hardware for a time, and eventually ran watch repair business from his home until shortly before his death.
He peacefully passed away at his home in Marcus on Tuesday, November 21, 2012, at the age of 90. A private family graveside service was held on Monday, November 26, 2012, at Marcus Amherst Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Jeff and Bill; three brothers, Jack, Jim and Bernie; two sisters, Mary and Jean.
Among those left to cherish his memory is Jean, his wife of 65 years; two sons, Brian and his wife Jackie of Carroll, IA, and Dave and his wife, Renee of Omaha, NE; two daughters, Jill and her husband Mark Albert of Sioux City, IA, and Jan and her husband, Mark Bauer of Marcus; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Sue and her husband Craig Dorr of Marcus.

Private family services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 26th.
