Kirk Allen Ray, age 54, of Washta, IA, died suddenly on August 30, 2017, at Unity Point St. Luke's Medical Center in Sioux City, IA. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Kirk was born on March 29, 1963, to Kenneth and Clarsie (Holloway) Ray. He lived in Washta his entire life, and attended Willow Schools. He worked various jobs including construction, IBP, Wilson's, Jerry's Tree Service, and Lundell Sanitary Service. He was currently working for the HyVee Distribution Center in Cherokee.
Kirk met his wife, Sherri King, in 1983, and the two were wed on June 9, 1988. They were blessed with three beautiful children, Nathan (Megan), Garret (Kayla) and Emily (Travis). They became the proud grandparents of Aiden (age 5) and Chloe (age 4).
Kirk loved being outdoors, especially if it involved camping, fishing or golfing. He enjoyed watching football and NASCAR. He and his sons worked together building race cars. Kirk could often be found in his golf cart, driving around the neighborhood, visiting with neighbors and friends.
In addition to his wife, children and grandchildren, Kirk is survived by two brothers, Kenneth (Jackie) Ray, Jr., and Kevin (Alma) Ray, both of Washta; Sherri's siblings, Michelle (Robert) McCampbell, Paul (Anthony) King, Aaron (Wendy) King, and Shawn King (special friend Angie); his mother-in-law, Dorie Regennitter, and grandmother-in-law, Lucille King; several nieces and nephews: Cassandra (Jeremy) Guttau, Christi Carstens, Cody Ray (Rhiannon), Dillon Ray (Megan), Valerie Delao; Tyler (Nikki) Otto, Andrea Otto, Devon King (Ryan), McKenzie King (Darrell), Jakob, Hunter and Noah King, Taylor and Trevor King, Anthony and Clarsie Simmons, Frankie Allender, Bailey and Drake Carstens, Jack, Thomas and Mason Ray, and Hayden Hansen; many extended 'kids' whom he loved very much; other relatives and friends.
Kirk was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Clarsie Ray, father-in-law, Ron King, brother-in-law, Wade King and father-in-law Robert Myers.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 2, 2017, at the Quimby Babtist Church in Quimby.
