Julius Folkert Stecker, age 84 of Cherokee, IA, passed away Friday, September 1, 2023, at Unity Point Healthcare in Sioux City, IA. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 16, 2023, at the Burt Cemetery in Burt, IA. OBITUARY
Julius Folkert Stecker, the son of Folkert and Juliea (Meyer) Stecker, was born June 26, 1939, in Titonka, IA. His childhood years were spent in Titonka, where he attended school and graduated from Titonka High School.
On June 28, 1959, Julius was united in marriage to Judy Weiske and they made their home in Iowa where unto this union, one son, Terry and a daughter, Desiree, were born. In July of 1985, they moved to Warsaw and Julius was the manager for G&W Foods for many years. Following the death of Judy, Julius moved to Cherokee, IA, to be closer to his children.
Julius enjoyed woodworking, fishing, camping, and working in his yard. He loved being outdoors and building bird houses. Most of all, he loved the time spent with his family and friends.
On Friday, September 1, 2023, Julius passed away at a Sioux City, IA, hospital at the age of 84. He was preceded in death by his parents, Folkert and Julia Stecker; his wife, Judy Stecker; an infant brother; and one sister, Marlitta Redenius.
He will lovingly be remembered by his children, Terry (Twila) Stecker of LeMars, IA, and daughter, Desiree (Tracey) Valentine of Pomeroy, IA; grandchildren, Tara (Scott) Geddes of Hinton, IA, Tasha (Mike) Fowler of Harrisburg, IA, Toni (Brian) Niehus of LeMars, IA, Nathan (Lauren) Botine of Harlan, IA, Matthew (Kaylee) Botine of Storm Lake, IA, and Courtney Morales of Sioux Rapids, IA; and also other relatives and friends.
