Julie Ann Bradstreet, the daughter of David and Carol (Tentinger) Carey, was born June 2, 1967, in Cherokee, IA. Her childhood years were spent in Cherokee where she attended school. She later attended college and earned a degree in Psychology. Julie worked several places over the years some which included Carey’s Furniture and The Pub. She was also a seamstress and one of the best bakers around.
Julie was united in marriage to John Bradstreet on October 9, 2008, in Cherokee. Julie enjoyed baking, gardening, and sewing. She was well known for her fantastic fried chicken. She also liked to read her bible, listen to music, and spend time visiting around a good campfire. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.
On December 17, 2021, Julie passed away at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center at the age of 54. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Bradstreet; father, David Carey; grandparents, Roman and Lucille Tentinger, and Gerald and Gladys Carey; one aunt, Carol Mattioda, and two uncles, Tim Kelley and Jim Tentinger.
She will lovingly be remembered by her children, Jake (Chelsea) Van Roekel of Spencer, IA, Jeremy Van Roekel of Cherokee, IA, and April Van Roekel and her special friend, Joey Simonsen of Fairmont, MN; mother, Carol Carey of Cherokee, IA; 5 grandchildren, Ariana Giddings, Landen King, Nathan Van Roekel, Katrina Van Roekel, and Ryver King; siblings, Kevin Carey of Cherokee, IA, Trudy (Chad) Pedersen of Milford, IA, Chad (Kelli) Carey of Cherokee, IA; and Jay (Lyndsey) Carey of Cherokee, IA; and other relatives and friends.
