Joyce Ann Rohweder, the daughter of Wilbur and Eva (Moorhead) Rydstrom was born September 18, 1935, in Alta, Iowa. She graduated from Fairview Consolidated School.
She was united in marriage to Thomas Hallcock on August 29, 1956 in Alta, IA. Joyce was later married to Larry Rohweder on June 5, 1965, in Storm Lake, IA.
Joyce worked at Bjorstead Drug Store in Spencer from 1954-1957. She then worked at the Truesdale Coop Elevator from 1957-1965. She then operated her own daycare starting in 1972 until her retirement in 2004. Joyce was also an Avon representative for many years.
Joyce was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Cherokee. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, sewing, crocheting, and knitting. She was an avid bowler, and also enjoyed spending time on her computer and having coffee with her friends. Most of all, she loved the time spent with her family and friends.
On February 27, 2021, Joyce passed away at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Eva Rydstrom; and three brothers, Roger, Richard, and John Rydstrom; and one niece, Michelle Rydstrom.
She will lovingly be remembered by her children, Geoffrey Hallcock of Laurens, IA, Brett (Lauren) Rohweder of Ankeny, IA, Heidi (Don) Trent of Ankeny, IA, and Jeffery (Deborah) Rohweder of Ankeny, IA; grandchildren: Tanner, Carter, and Malerie Rohweder of Ankeny, IA, Riley and Devynn, Trent of Ankeny, IA, Adrianne Rohweder (Blake Wells) of Sloansville, NY, and Wesley (Lindsey) Rohweder of Ankeny, IA; great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Cooper, and Barrett Rohweder, and Lilly Wells; sister, Clara Lou Rydstrom of Sioux City, IA; brother, Charles Rydstrom of Vermilion, SD; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
