Joseph B. Embretson

Joseph B. Embretson, the son of Bernard and Mammie Embretson, was born on June 27, 1934, in Owatonna, MN. His childhood years were spent in Rudd, IA where he received his education. In 1955, Joseph entered the Navy and honorably served until 1966. During his time in the service he was united in marriage to Rae Truesdale. Following the service, Joseph worked as a machinist for many years. In his free time, Joseph enjoyed being a H.A.M. radio operator, gardening, drinking coffee with his friends, watching the weather channel, and his dogs. Most of all he enjoyed being around his family and friends. On July 11, 2011, Joseph passed away at the Cherokee Regional Medical in Cherokee at the age of 77. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rae Embretson; his parents; and one son, Joseph Bernard II. He is survived by five daughters: Debra Zor of Sheboygan, WI, Cindy McKenna of Waterloo, IA, Joey Cain of Cherokee, IA, Carla Dahlquist of Moreno Valley, CA, and Teri Zipse of Ashland, MA; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; one brother Wayne Jorgenson of Owatonna, MN; and special friend, Mary Patch of Mason City, IA.
