John Kenneth Berglund

John Kenneth Berglund, the son of Sally (Hanlon) and Kenneth Berglund, was born on March 23, 1951, in Cherokee, IA. His childhood years were spent on the family farm near Larrabee, IA, and he graduated from Washington High School in Cherokee with the class of 1970. Following high school, John attended Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg, IA, in the Farm/Ag. Program. He farmed with his father and brother, Jerry, until 1979. He spent five years in Dallas, TX, where he was the maintenance supervisor for an apartment complex. After relocating to Sioux Falls, SD, in 1989, he continued doing various custodial jobs for several years, then became a maintenance supervisor for the City of Sioux Falls, at their water treatment plant. He continued working there until his retirement. John was an avid collector of toy cars and trucks. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and especially enjoyed his nieces and nephews. On Monday, January 9, 2012, John passed away at his home in Sioux Falls, SD, at the age of 60. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Sally Berglund; and one sister, Jeannie Mohr. Survivors include his siblings: Jim (Linda) Berglund of Merrill, IA, Jerry (Julie) Berglund of Larrabee, IA, Jan (John) Small of Watertown, SD, and Julie (Curt) Johnson of Spirit Lake, IA;one brother-in-law, Pat Mohr of Galva, IA; he is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
