Jimmy Dean Ulrich, the son of Anton and Margret (Nelson) Ulrich, was born February 19, 1933, in Norfolk, NE. His childhood years were spent in Norfolk where he received his education. On April 2, 1953, Jimmy joined the U.S. Army and served for two years during Korea until his honorable discharge on February 2, 1955.
In 1957, Jimmie was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Venzke. They had three boys: George, Jeff, and Mark. In 1977, he moved to Cherokee where he worked for Lundell Construction for many years.
Jimmy was a member of the Cherokee V.F.W. L.A. Wescott Post 2253. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He also enjoyed spending time with fellow veterans and the V.F.W.
On September 21, 2015, Jimmy passed away at the Countryside Estates in Cherokee at the age of 82. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Margret Ulrich.
He is survived by his three boys: George (Judy) Ulrich of Le Mars, IA, Jeff (Char) of Fonda, IA, and Mark (Deb) Ulrich of Arthur, IA; longtime companion, Carolyn Jensen of Cherokee, IA; one brother, George Ulrich of Lennox, SD; five grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2015, at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee.
