Jack Agnitsch

Jack Lee Agnitsch, the son of John and Phyllis (Hansen) Agnitsch was born September 23, 1939, in Pipestone, MN. His childhood years were spent in Minnesota where he received his early education. At age 9, he moved to Cherokee, IA with his family where he attended school. He graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1957. Following school, Jack went to work at his father's service station. On January 23, 1959, he was united in marriage to Darlene Menke in Cherokee, IA. Jack and Darlene moved to Fort Dodge where he worked for the railroad. In 1965, they moved back to Cherokee where he worked at Tyson for 43 years. Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing, racing, baseball, and football. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. On October 26, 2012, Jack passed away at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center at the age of 73. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert Agnitsch; and one nephew, Kevin Agnitsch. He is survived by his wife, Darlene Agnitsch of Cherokee, IA; children: Matt Agnitsch of Cherokee, IA, Michelle Murphy of Cherokee, IA, and Marty Agnitsch of Cherokee, IA; grandchildren: Katie Murphy of Ashby, MN, Parker and Lexie Agnitsch of Ankeny, IA, Austin Agnitsch of Cherokee, IA, Nate Agnitsch of Cherokee, IA, Kane Carlson of Marcus, IA, and Trace Agnitsch of Marcus, IA; one great-grandson, Aiden Agnitsch; siblings: Karen (Jim) Bezoni of Aurelia, IA, Jim (Deb) Agnitsch of Cherokee, IA, and Patti (John) Riggs of Cherokee, IA; as well as several nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.
SERVICES
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, November 2, 2012 at Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee.

VISITATION
Visitation will begin at noon on Thursday, with the family present from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday night at Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee.
