Ivan C. Theisen was born on April 20, 1927 in Le Mars, IA to John and Anna (Ruden) Theisen. He grew up near Le Mars and Oyens, IA, where he received his education. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953.
On January 15, 1955, he was united in marriage to Yvonne Muller in Remsen, Iowa. They settled on a farm near Marcus, Iowa, and were involved in farming and raising livestock. Their family eventually grew to include 13 children. Work on the farm kept Ivan very busy, but he always made time for picnics, fishing, and other activities with his family. He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus for 48 years, the Catholic Order of Foresters, and served as a board member for the Marcus Co-op for 9 years.
Ivan passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Suzanne; two brothers, Elmer and Reynold Theisen; four sisters, Therry Weiler, Sally Henke, Shirley Gengler, and Lois Theisen; and brothers-in-law Gilbert Weiler, David McCarty, and Al Gengler.
Survivors include Yvonne, his wife of 60 years; his children, Jane (Jim) Sternhagen of Yankton, SD, Doris (Doug) Heiliger of Sheldon, IA, Tom (Dot) Theisen of Gower, MO, Rose Theisen of Sioux Falls, SD, Margie (Mark) Goergen of Alton, IA, Janet Gustafson of Tea, SD, Richard (Holly) Theisen of Le Mars, IA, Linda (Jerry) Moser, David (Jodi) Theisen, both of Marcus, IA, Carol Braun, Connie (Alan) Peterson, both of Remsen, IA, Bonnie Behr of Luverne, MN, and Fred (Jodi) Theisen of Alta, IA; 43 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; a brother, Cyril (Helen) Theisen of Remsen, IA, and Rita McCarty of Spencer, IA; two sisters-in-law, Rita Theisen of Canby, MN, and Joan Cronin of Marcus, IA, a brother-in-law, Richard Henke of Cherokee, IA.

VISITATION
2:00 p.m., Monday, June 29, AT HOLY NAME CATHOLIC CHURCH. The family will be present at the church from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. The Knights of Columbus and Catholic Order of Foresters will lead the rosary at 4:00 p.m. There will be a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
