Helen Monica Thompson Struck, daughter of Alice and James Thompson was born on May 19, 1915 in Ayrshire, Iowa.
She attended Aryshire Sacred Heart School before her folks moved to a farm near Webb, Iowa. She finished her education at Garfield Township School, graduating in 1933. She was employed at O'Brien's Grocery store previous to her marriage to Raymond Leroy Struck on September 1, 1937.
Their first home was at the Struck farm by Webb, in a home built by Raymond's dad. Five daughters and five sons soon followed. During their married years they lived in 10 different homes, four different towns, ending up in Cherokee in 1964, where Helen resided until her death.
Only her strong faith superseded her love for her husband and her children. She was an extremely open minded lady who taught everyone around her the virtues of kindness, thoughtfulness, faith and love. Piano playing was another of her loves and favorite pastimes and one of her joys of life. Her love for cooking and baking will always be remembered by all who knew her, especially the IC school students, family and friends, who especially were delighted with her homemade bread, buns and cinnamon rolls.
