Harold Raymond Ferrin, the son of Horace and Mary (Hanson) Ferrin was born February 4, 1935, on a farm in Cherokee County. His childhood years were spent in Grand Meadow where he attended country school. He later graduated from Grand Meadow High School in 1953. After school, Harold worked on the family farm and drove truck for the Barnes Rodeo.
On September 16, 1956, Harold was united in marriage, to the love of his life, Judith Lawrence in Cherokee, Iowa. From 1957-1959 Harold served with the U.S Army Infantry, based at Fort Lewis, in Tacoma, WA. He then worked for Schwartz Manufacturing serving as a district manager. In the late 1970's, Harold started the Cherokee Ag Center which he ran until the mid 1980's. He also worked for Melowdent Seed Corn, and most recently he worked as a crop adjuster and sold crop insurance for North Central Crop Insurance.
Harold was on the Church Board, a deacon for many years, a Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher, and worked with the youth groups. He was also on the Board at Midwest Christian Homes and the Aurelia Golf Board for several years. Harold was instrumental in the start-up of the Cherokee Senior Center. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking, golfing, fishing, pheasant hunting, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and watching the Cherokee Braves. He had recently enjoyed doing stained glass windows which can be seen at the church. Most of all Harold loved spending time with his family and friends whom he cherished.
