Harold D. "Buster" Maddox, the son of William and Verna (Sleezer) Maddox, was born April 14, 1930, in Cherokee, IA. He was the first premature incubator baby in Cherokee County. His childhood years were spent in Cherokee where he attended school and graduated from Wilson High School.
Following graduation, he served with the National Guard from 1948 - 1956. Buster moved to Quimby, IA and worked for Wilson Packing plant in Cherokee for many years. In his free time Buster enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, and going to auctions, but most of all he enjoyed being around family and friends.
On Monday, August 30, 2010, Buster passed away in Cherokee, at the age of 80. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Verna Maddox; and one son, Roger Jackson.
He is survived by his children: Julie Wright, Hal Maddox, Eric Maddox, Holly Stillwagon, Nancy McVay, Mary I. Ficus, and Annette Simonsen; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Cherokee Regional Medical Center Hospice.
