Grace Paulline Kirchoff, the daughter of Benjamin Wilkes and Julia (Peterson) Gilbert was born April 9, 1912 at Cherokee, IA. Her childhood years were spent near Meriden, IA, where she attended school and graduated from Meriden High School.
On February 21, 1931, Grace was united in marriage to Lester Kirchoff at Trinity Lutheran Church at rural Marcus. Following their marriage they farmed together for many years in the Marcus and Cleghorn area.
Grace was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Marcus. She enjoyed gardening, baking, and working on the farm. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.
On November 2, 2013, Grace passed away at Countryside Estates in Cherokee at the age of 101. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Kirchoff; her parents, Benjamin and Julia Gilbert; two children, Alice Cedar and Virgil Kichoff; and three brothers: Merrit, Gerald, and Lawrence Gilbert.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Arlene Cedar of Larrabee, IA, one sister, Dorothy (Bud) Clow of Cherokee, IA, 11 grandchildren: Alan Cedar, Cheryl (Kurt) Peterson, Brian Cedar, Julia (Steve) Cedar, Lance Cedar, Lori (Charles) Ganger, Kevin Cedar, Randy (Karin) Cedar, David Kirchoff, John Kirchoff, and Ben (Chris) Kirchoff; 23 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee.
